This page provides an overview of the three graded assignments for the seminar. Each assignment builds toward the final thesis.
Standing policy: All assignments are due by 23:59 on the due date via Brightspace.

Participation accounts for 10% of the seminar grade. The final thesis is graded separately.
Assignment #1: Revised Research Proposal
Due: March 13, 2026
The revised research proposal builds on work completed in the BA2 Research Seminar. Refine your research question, demonstrate engagement with the relevant literature, and outline your proposed methodology.
Requirements:
- Clear and focused research question
- Justification for the research topic
- Preliminary literature review
- Proposed methodology and data sources
- Timeline for completion

Assignment #2: Preliminary Draft
Due: April 03, 2026
The preliminary draft includes a substantially developed introduction, literature review, and analytical framework/methodology section.
Requirements:
- Introduction with clear research question and motivation
- Literature review situating your research in the field
- Analytical framework or methodology section
- Preliminary structure for body chapters

Assignment #3: Empirical Draft
Due: May 06, 2026
The empirical draft is a near-complete version of your thesis that includes your research findings and analysis.
Requirements:
- Complete introduction and literature review
- Fully developed methodology section
- Body chapters with research findings and analysis
- Preliminary conclusion
- Working bibliography

Final Manuscript
Due: June 01, 2026
The final thesis manuscript is submitted to your supervisor for assessment by the first and second reader.
Requirements:
- 10,000 words (+/- 10%)
- Formatted according to the Style Guide
- Complete bibliography
- Abstract and keywords
